Step into a world of fierce legends and dazzling intensity, opening Music Director Sarah Ioannides’ final season on the Symphony Tacoma podium with powerful emotion, masterful technique, and eloquence.

Boston University School of Music presents Boston University Symphony Orchestra led by conductor Sarah Ioannides, in Tsai Performance Center on Friday, October 3, 2025 in a free event.

Sarah Ioannides, music director of Symphony Tacoma and a competitive runner, knows several musicians who engage in sports. She also coaches conductors and leads contemporary music performances at Curtis. “Being an athlete helps me maintain my overall strength when I’m at the podium,” she says. “Like music, running feeds my soul and gives me time and space to reflect.”

The Orchestral Masterclass with Sarah Ioannides, Third Annual Choral Masterclass with Geoffrey Boers, and fourth Annual Cascade Composers Workshop will run from June 13th- June 21st, 2025, giving participants from each class the opportunity to learn from all of the faculty and disciplines at the Eighth Annual Cascade Conducting Masterclass with Sarah Ioannides.

An evening of lush melodies and intricate orchestral textures that transport you to a world of romantic elegance and grandeur.
