Symphony Tacoma is to Receive a $50,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

Symphony Tacoma has been approved to receive a $50,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)! This award is part of the American Rescue Plan to help the arts and cultural sector recover from the pandemic.
For Symphony Tacoma, this meaningful funding will help safeguard the employment of our 73 musicians and artist-educators, so their talents can be shared with the community through farmers market appearances, family performances and in-school mentoring.
“Symphony Tacoma is grateful to have received the NEA American Rescue Plan grant,” comments Executive Director Karina Bharne. “All of our programming has continued in some capacity through the pandemic. With this additional gift we are ensuring that out activities for youth and families can continue–in the concert hall, outdoors or virtually.”
“Our nation’s arts sector has been among the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. The National Endowment for the Arts’ American Rescue Plan funding will help arts organizations, such as Symphony Tacoma, rebuild and reopen,” said Dr. Maria Rosario Jackson, chair of the NEA. “The arts are crucial in helping America’s communities heal, unite, and inspire, as well as essential to our nation’s economic recovery.”
In total, the NEA will award grants totaling $57,750,000 to 567 arts organizations in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Washington, DC.
